Stator and rotor in induction motor

Looking at AC Motor diagrams and cutaways. Basic operation of AC Motor stators and rotors with AC motor diagrams. An induction motor can therefore be made without electrical connections to the rotor.

For this to work the motor must either be. This will cause the motor to generate power .

The Stator is the stationary part and the rotor is the rotating part.

The Rotor sits inside the Stator.

The value of the radial air-gap may vary from 0. The rotor conductors are short circuite and hence rotor current is produced due to induced emf. That is why such motors are called as induction motors. Almost of the mechanical power used by industries is provided by three phase induction motors because of its simple and rugged construction, low cost, good operating characteristics, absence of commutator and good speed regulation. In three phase induction motor the power is transferred from stator to rotor winding . In most installations, induction motors can be started and brought up to speed by connecting the stator terminals directly to the electric supply.

This establishes the rotating field in the machine. At zero speed the velocity of this fiel relative to that of the rotor , is high. If the rotor current were limited only by the resistance of the . Abstract The chapter deals with general description of an induction motor fol- lowed by different faults. First, construction of induction motor has been discussed. Faults like rotor broken bar, mass unbalance, stator faults, single phasing, crawling, bearing faults, etc. This rotating field is the source of the induction in the rotor and the rotor currents that ,because the rotor bars are shorte are the source of the rotorfield that interacts with the rotating field of the stator. The force between that magnetic field and the magnetic field of the stator is transmitted as torque rotating the load.

Three phase induction motor construction. That resistance to the motor torque is seen . Electric current is supplied to the stator , which .
