Application of ac series motor

AC motors are the most commonly used motors. Three phase ac motors constitute about of motors in industry (according to Amatrol). In AC use, these are commonly found in appliances and power tools so: vacuum cleaners, power drills, portable saws.

Now in order to reduce the eddy currents there is need to laminate the yoke and field core.

This is our first modification to DC series motor.

What about power factor how we can improve power .

We will discuss here the simplest way of drawing the phasor diagram for an AC series motor.

Now let us discuss some application of AC series motors. It is often referred to as an AC series motor. The universal motor is very similar . In contrast, the synchronous motor does not rely on slip-induction for operation and uses either permanent magnets, salient poles (having projecting magnetic poles), or an independently excited rotor winding.

The synchronous motor produces its rated torque at exactly synchronous speed. The brushless wound- rotor doubly . In wound rotor motors the starting current can be limited by increasing the resistance in series with the rotor windings. Following changes are made in d. The entire magnetic circuit is laminated in order to reduce the eddy current loss. Single-phase and polyphase motors will be discussed.

Synchronous motors , for purposes of this chapter, may be considered as polyphase motors , of constant spee whose rotors are energized with dc voltage . AC commutator motors , like comparable DC motors , have higher starting torque and higher speed than AC induction motors.

The single-phase AC version suffers a . AC (alternating current) motors are low-cost and high-efficiency mechanisms used in large variety of applications. Power factor will be low (because of high inductance of the field and armature circuits) and there will be an excessive eddy current loss i. DC Series motor have several advantages over AC Series motor. Smooth speed control is possible in.

A variant of the DC system was the AC operated series motor , which is essentially the same device but operated on alternating current. Since both the armature and field current reverse at the same time, the behavior of the motor is similar to that when energized with direct current.

To achieve better operating conditions, AC . Repulsion motors are classified under single phase motors. In repulsion motors the stator windings are connected directly to the AC . It is also known as Single Phase Series Motor. These motors are generally series wound (armature and field winding are in series ), and hence produce high starting torque (See characteristics of DC motors here).
